7 Tips for Keeping Your Home Clean and Organized

Being clean and organized is not just about having a neat and tidy home; it's about creating a peaceful and stress-free environment for you and your family. As a cleaning professional, we’ve seen how clutter and disorganization can impact your life, and that's why we've put together these seven tips for keeping your home organized.

1. Create a Simple Cleaning Schedule

It's simple - make a plan that works for you! Create a realistic cleaning schedule that suits your lifestyle and stick to it. For example, in our home we clean the kitchen and dining room daily, but Tuesdays we tidy bedrooms and Thursdays we tidy main spaces. We also schedule a weekend each month for external windows we can reach and for pressure washing our patio. Then of course, we have recurring cleaning services.

2. Declutter Regularly

Look around each room and get rid of items that no longer serve you, that you never use, or that don't match your home's aesthetic. Ask yourself "if this disappeared tomorrow, would I even notice?". Donate or sell those things (yay, extra cash!) and free up space in your home. Decluttering can make it easier to keep your home organized and reduce the amount of cleaning needed.

3. Clean as You Go

We heard our parents tell this constantly when growing up -- we probably say this to our kids too. And let's be honest --  no one has time to clean after themselves all the time. Of course we'll clean up spills when it happens to avoid buildup and stains. But here's what we do in our home -- if we're leaving a room we take one thing that doesn't belong and put it away on our way to the next room. Coupled with our simple cleaning schedule, our home stays pretty clean.

4. Invest in Quality Tools

Don't buy crappy things for your home. Good quality cleaning materials like microfiber cloths, mops and vacuum cleaners can save you time and energy, and money down the line.

5. Use Natural Cleaning Products

They're safe for children and pets, effective at cleaning, and environmentally friendly. Want a few recipes? Subscribe to our newsletter below and we'll send you the non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaning product recipes we use for our clients!

6. Give Each Item a Home

If it doesn't have a home, it's got to go. Assign a specific place for all your belongings, and return them after use. This way, you can avoid clutter and always know where everything is. We use great shelf and drawer organizers that we buy at Target to give things a home, but keep it hidden so the home still fees decluttered.

7. Hire Professional Cleaners

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we can't do it all on our own. Consider hiring professional cleaners at least once a month to give your home a deep clean and stay on top of tough-to-clean areas.

Follow these tips to create a clean and organized home that's conducive to a stress-free and healthy lifestyle.
